Let me know if you buy another.  Under $200 I am definitely interested.

If I was in town this Saturday I would be there to help/observe.

Hey I might have found a deal on a different header. Interested in buying this one if I can work out a deal for a different one. Would be under 200 for the header and egr fitting.

And you two are silly. I have been around as long as dirt with the club lol. Plus after having so many issues trying to pay online i'm just going to write a check on friday

If going with the FFSC kit, be sure to invest in a REAL heat exchanger (intercooler) and not that silly 5th injector thing.

  4. Byrdmen added a post in a topic The old Turbo vs. Supercharger debate

I was sold on the FFSC when I read that it made your 4 cylinder engine react like a 6 or 8 cylinder - nice linear response.

What I am having a hard time choking down is how the $3900 SC leads to a $700 clutch, $300 Wide band, $200 radiator, and so on.

    Yup.  Definitely going supercharge.

  6. Byrdmen added a post in a topic Hey Matt...

Yeah, I suspect it bothers him more than he's letting on.

I was surprised how thin the cylinder walls are.  I always just assumed they were 1/2 inch think or so.

7 of 8 rods broken, 8th severely bent.  One head untouched (looked gorgeous, great tune), the other impacted one piston.  It will have to be serviced and possibly replaced.  Clutch had burned spots with only 4,200 miles.  New fancy twin disk clutch lying on the floor of the car ready to go in.

New aluminum race prep short block - $9,500 + install.  Uhh, what else you got?

I figured it would have to make Matt feel a little better.

    Hey Matt...
In all honesty Matt, I do feel bad for you.  You have put a lot of blood sweat and dollars in about the fastest car I have ridden in.

Hope this makes you feel better, could have been worse...

Yes, that is a broken wall in whats left of my Dad's Mustang motor.  It also appears that the mode of failure is different than what we suspected.

Windage tray looks like a grenade went off.

Oh boy, NOW you've done it Kinny!

Now I own a turbocharged car, because that's how it came from the factory.
I personally like both turbocharged and supercharged vehicles, but I don't have enough seat time behind the wheel of a supercharged vehicle to really give a side by side comparison.

I know I know, but gotta have it on the new forum.

On the side note, I think I'm going to supercharge my NA.

Plugs, wires and oil...OMG, and I thought I was too lazy to pull routine maintenance.  I'm glad I'm not alone, Stan.

  18. Byrdmen added a post in a topic Exhaust manifold value

I suspect they are worth more to folks in California as they appear stock and allow them to remove the first cat.  I was interested as a cheap, relatively OEM way to get a little more power.

Thanks for the input, I think I will wait a while longer keeping it mostly stock until I decide on a direction (turbo/sc/grow up and realize high school is over).

  19. Guest added a post in a topic Exhaust manifold value

I was about to buy one off ebay about 2 months ago for around what louis said. For that price you can go aftermarket.

  20. Byrdmen added a post in a topic Exhaust manifold value

No, I have a line on one for sale that a guy bought for his '00SE and never installed.  He says he went turbo instead.

I just wish I had a better idea the condition.  I understand the tabs (for the heat shields I guess) can break off.

I am buying it from a few pics he is supposed to send me this weekend.  She's going in for motor mounts and alignment next weekend, add $250 to that and I may need a couch to crash on.

    Exhaust manifold value
Quick question of value, anyone think $250 is too much for an: 01+ exhaust manifold, EGR tube, both heat shields, and manifold gasket?
